Drawing standard and revision
Identify the governing ASME or ISO convention and ensure all teams use the same controlled revision.
PKL ENGINEERING GUIDE · GD&T
A controlled drawing, agreed datum reference frame and clear quality decision are the starting points for CMM programming—not the probe count.

This guide supports preparation only. The approved drawing, specified GD&T standard and the customer's quality authority remain controlling.
Identify the governing ASME or ISO convention and ensure all teams use the same controlled revision.
Confirm primary, secondary and tertiary datums and how the fixture will reproduce them without distortion.
Review the symbol, tolerance zone, material-condition modifier and affected feature.
Check probe angle, stylus length, internal access, collision envelope and qualification needs.
Choose data density based on form, profile and the evidence needed—not a generic point count.
Agree what the report must show and who decides pass, fail, rework or escalation.
CONTROLLED INPUT
PKL will help structure the probe, fixture and measurement discussion around the real requirement.
